Scientific name: Chrysemys picta marginata. Where it lives: This subspecies lives in southern Ontario and Quebec, among other places. What it eats: Aquatic plants and small animals. The midland painted turtle uses ponds, marshes and slow-moving waterways. A log rising above the water gives it a place to bask.
