Scientific name: Bubo scandiacus. Where it lives: Arctic tundra in summer; some move farther south in winter. What it eats: Small mammals and birds, including lemmings. Arctic summers bring very long days. Snowy owls can hunt in this light. In winter, some visit fields and shorelines far from their breeding grounds.
