The red fox moves beside woods and meadows. Its pointed muzzle, upright ears and large, bushy tail make it an animal you can recognize.

Scientific name: Vulpes vulpes. Where it lives: Woodlands, countryside and other habitats across much of Canada. What it eats: Small animals, insects and fruit. Red foxes adapt to varied habitats. In the north, they can share a region with Arctic foxes, which have smaller ears and shorter muzzles.
