A photograph preserved by the McCord Stewart Museum shows Guaranteed Pure Milk Company delivery wagon No. 36 in Montréal around 1910. It documents horse-drawn milk delivery. It does not tell us how many trucks were then in the city or how every delivery driver worked. The crates and route in our drawing are imaginary.
To look at the drawing, ask what carries the goods and what lets the driver steer the whole thing. Your child can then imagine the route from the depot to the houses on the round. Our illustration keeps the idea of horse-drawn delivery without copying the photograph or showing the company in it.
