A barrel maker, also called a cooper, assembles wooden pieces called staves to make barrels. Depending on the design, wooden or metal hoops hold everything together. The Office québécois de la langue française's definition includes repairs: replacing a damaged piece is part of the work, just like making a new object.

Name these two directions with your child and look for what holds the pieces together.
