A little more to discover
Montmagny's Accordion Museum presents the instrument's history and discovery activities. Its educational booklet explains the bellows: they move air, making reeds vibrate inside the instrument. The central folds are therefore more than decoration; their movement helps produce sound.
Notice how the accordion's two sides can move apart and together. Invite your child to copy the motion slowly with their arms. Folded paper then lets them explore opening and closing folds, without claiming to make an instrument that works like a real accordion.
