In 1964, Québec created its Ministry of Education. This brought a major change to the way Québec's schools were organized.

In 1964, a law established the Ministry of Education and the Conseil supérieur de l'éducation. The National Assembly Library places this creation within the reforms of the 1960s and the work of the Parent Commission. The change concerned the organization of the education system; schools and teachers existed long before that date.
The image uses arrival at school to make the subject concrete. Bags, an entrance and meeting the teacher are familiar to young children. Explain that, besides the people in a classroom, other adults make decisions about how schools are organized. The fictional building represents neither the ministry nor a school that opened specifically in 1964.
