The Paix des Braves
2002
In 2002, the Cree Nation and Québec signed the Paix des Braves, or Peace of the Braves. With this agreement, they promised to work together as partners on projects for Cree land and Cree communities.

The Paix des Braves was signed on February 7, 2002 between Québec and the Crees of Québec. The Cree Nation Government describes it as a new nation-to-nation partnership. It provides for funding of Cree economic and community development, an adapted forestry regime and mechanisms for dialogue. In its 2020 anniversary message, the Cree government emphasizes Cree consent and participation in development in Eeyou Istchee.
