A little more to discover

The Welland Canal lets ships bypass Niagara Falls. Its locks overcome the difference in level between the two lakes. The drawing simplifies a lock and a cargo ship; it does not show every installation or a particular manoeuvre. Gravity moves water into and out of the locks.
