Kaslo’s Sternwheeler
Kaslo

In Kaslo, a large boat rests on dry land. This is the S.S. Moyie. Its wheel is at the stern. Long ago, that wheel turned in the water to move the boat.

A little more to discover
Built in Nelson, the Moyie worked on Kootenay Lake until 1957. Preserved in Kaslo, it helps tell the story of lake transport. The drawing shows the vessel ashore as a museum ship, with its paddle wheel at the stern rather than on the side.
